Rocklunda's new cabin village gets Orbital Shower
21 overnight cabins in central Sweden.Rocklunda properties is working on the next big project with Orbital Shower. 21 overnight cabins are being built, with a total of over 150 beds that will be used for temporary overnight stays at events or for larger groups passing through.
Rocklunda in Västerås is Sweden's largest integrated sports facility with both indoor and outdoor arenas, riding stables, ski tracks, exercise tracks and training facilities. It is also a real estate company with very clear sustainability focus.
Energy efficiency was the focus for Rocklunda until 2018, when they shifted to a broader approach where they work towards Agenda 2030 and the 17 global sustainability goals. The very ambitious goal is now to be climate-positive by 2030.
- We are currently building 21 overnight cabins. There will be a total of over 150 beds that will be able to be used for temporary overnight stays at events or for larger groups on transit. The cabins will be a very good addition to Rocklunda, now we can offer a local accommodation option with responsible water use during all the big sports events that Rocklunda is so well known for, continues Björn.
Rocklunda is one of three nominees for Västerås city's sustainability award, the winner will be announced on March 17. Björn believes that they have been nominated because of the broad approach in Rocklunda's sustainability work. They work on all the global sustainability goals - everything from biodiversity and production of own sustainable energy to equality and gender equality goals.
- If one percent of our visitors can become interested in the sustainable solutions we use and start looking at the possibility of installing solar panels or Orbital Showers at their own homes, then we have have a long way, concludes Björn.
