Even though we work with saving water every day, World Water Day is an important day for us at Orbital. The theme for WWD 2022 is Groundwater – the invisible source of life for us all. Groundwater is the source of drinking water for half of the population on our planet. It’s a precious and invisible resource – and one threatened by pollution, waste, and conflict. Across our planet, water shortage is affecting daily life, but we still treat it as an unlimited commodity, that we take for granted - out of sight out of mind. We believe that this has to change, and that the change must be made in the daily lives of you and me.

Many think that water shortage won’t affect them. Well, think again. On this day last year, scientists warned that mega draughts is about to become reality in Europe, which will have serious effect on availability of fresh groundwater – not only for drinking, but also for irrigation and food production.
In Scandinavia, we see water restrictions due to low groundwater every summer in the south, and at Gotland it´s an immediate reality large parts of the year. It’s a situation we need to solve. We at Orbital want to be part of that solution. Half of the water used in your home is consumed in your bathroom, so that’s where we suggest you start. For example, like the Vidhave project, where circular shower technology from Orbital saves water and energy.
You don’t have to sacrifice comfort – just do it smarter. Every change starts with one person, and this one starts in your bathroom. It’s time to stop taking our water for granted.
